WRESTLING.
The finals of the wrestling championships will be. decided next Thursday evening at the Forester*' Hall, Kar&ngahape- Road. As every man is engaged in the tournament, the management intend running the contests off in quick order, and to carry out this idea bouts' of fifteen minutes will bo allotted. Considerable interest is : being manifested in the meeting of Dunne and Leslie, while the meeting of W. Colledge and A. Powell should, be well worth seeing. The bout between tiers and J. 'CoHedge should also prove a good tussle. The title of '.champion wrestler of Australia, now held by Clarence Weber, who won it from the Hindu, Buttan.iSingh, is once more threatened by"a foreigner. tins. Rennert, the burly German athlete, who* was Hackenschmidt's most noted exhibition opponent in public displays, lias challenged the Australian champion. Weber, who has purposely allowed himself to run into "weight," in order to relieve- the long arid arduous strain he had imposed upon his physique by ceaseless training, is not. particularly anxious to tackle another hard course of training. Having achieved his ambition of winning the championship in the interests of a " white Australia," he is quite satisfied to take an extended rest, says an exchange. Ho therefore requests Rcnriert to qualify by tackling the Hindu, who, it is said, is anxious to moot him: Later on Weber will discuss a match for the championship.
