Texas, the biggest State in the Union, has just developed the biggest real estate litigation in its history. The heirs of one John Charles Beales seek to recover 42,000,000 acres of land, now valued at some 126,000,000 dollars', situated in the Panhandle of Texas and the north-eastern part of New Mexico. This land was granted originally to Beales and others .by the State of Coahuila, Mexico, for colonisation purposes. ■ Mr. Beales expended large sums in bringing families to the territory from England. This work of colonisation was abandoned, however, because of Indian depredations.
