RECORDS FOR MAY.

[BY TELEGRAPH. —PRESS ASSOCIATION.]

Bunt-din, Friday. For the month ending to-day the number of births registered in Dunedin district was 157, as against 133 in May, 1906, while the,marriages were 39, as against 31, and deaths 97, as against 60. The registrar states that the death record for the month is the largest in any one month since the office was first - opened. He states that there has been no exceptional infant mortality, but a number of aged people have died this month, 16 persons of over 65 years being included in the list. As to marriages, they continued to show satisfactory increase, while the births needed but four more to break the record in any one month, and May is usually regarded as a "quiet" month "for birth's. There has not been so great a number of births in May since the year 1882.
