AUCKLAND AGRICULTURAL ASSOCIATION.

The Auckland Agricultural and Pastoral Association held a meeting yesterday in theassociation rooms. Mr. John Massey presided, ana there was a good attendance, of members of the General Committee. Mention was made- of the improvements which the Harbour Board intended, carrying out at the.. Orakei .cattle wharf, -and Mr. Coates expressed the; opinion that it was desirable that cattle, yards , should also be erected. Tho matter"was left in the hands of a committee, which will wait upon the Harbour Board's engineer, and, if necessary, the Board itself in regard to-the matter.;:}' ■ • •■•; -- "-; '-. I The. president was authorised to sign an illuminated address to Major Broun, ■■■who has retired from the Agricultural Department. The president referred to Major Broun as. an official who understood his duties, and carried them out to the best of his abilities. Major Broun, in returning thanks, said that he hud had a difficult position to fill in his endeavour to keep the farmers free from pests. . ■ i■> A letter, received by a member of the association from an ox-New Zealandor now in Queensland, was read, touching upon the tick which attacked the cattle in Australia. It wa3 decided to write for further particulars, and also to bring the matter up at the Agricultural Conference, to be held probably in July. .-'. . Nineteen new members were elected. ■■ A .special committee was '• appointed to meet at Otahuhu on Tuesday, for the purpose of going into the matter of making certain experiments..
