During April the Bluff shipping was: Inwards, 23 vessels, of 451,149 tons; outwards, 30 vessels, of 47,141 tons, an increase over April, 1906, of 477 and 11,322 tons respectively. ' . . Timaeu, Friday The Harbour Board to-day struck a rate over the rating district of 3-16 th of a penny, a reduction of l-6th on last year's levy. The chairman asked the Board to consider at tho next meeting the raising of the height of the outer mole, as the recent heavy sea had overrun it, and caused damago in tho harbour. ...... Hokitika, Friday. The Wcstland Law Society, at a meeting yesterday, resolved to strongly oppose the abolition of District Courts, as proposed by tho council of the New Zealand Law Society,- owing to' the limited number- of sittings of tho Supreme Court-in this district. The meeting endorsed a resolution of the Senate of tho New Zealand University, requesting the repeal of the Law Practitioners Aet of 1898. -
