In potatoes there was practically no business done outside of imports from Tasmania, which were in supply beyond requirements. Onions Armed somewhat ' in value, prime sorts being scarce, whilst inferior were plentiful. Kumaras showed an improvement in demand and value. Pumpkins were practically unsalable. Chaff was much better in value and prices eliow an upward tendency. Grain generally was firmer at slightly advanced values. Supplies of fruit were heavy throughout. Lemons were very plentiful and declined in price on late rates, sale 3 being difficult to effect. Apples realised about last week's values. Passion-fruit from Sydney was in heavy supply, but met with a good demand. A small consignment of Sydney mandarins sold well. A. moderate shipment of bananas arrived from Fiji by the TaJune on Monday, but although in splendid order met with a poor demand, owing to the cold weather prevailing. The butter market was fully supplied, but the demand was exceptionally dull. There was fair competition for small lots of farmers' make in prints and rolls, but there was no demand for farmers' bulk varieties, whilst milled, * for export, showed a heavy decline in price. Fresh eggs 'were scarce at high rates, and cheese, bacon, and hams .showed no change. Poultry was penned in large numbers, but the majority of the birds sent in were in very poor condition. . No doubt- the. present high- rate for feed is compelling holders to sell. Young pigs were in fair supply, but values were lower than last week. The following were the ruling prices at the auction sales:
