METHODIST CONFERENCE.
IGNORING OF NEW
ZEALANDERS. NOT "OUR OWN FOLK" ! By Telegraph.— Association.— (Received May 31. 11.26' p.m.) Sydney, ; May 31. At the Methodist Conference to-day, the Rev. Dr. Youngman was elected -secrotary. i''Jio Rev. Mr. Slade complained that no New Zealander except himself had been asked to take part in any of. the functions in connection with the Conferercc. It was a bad blunder, and lie way particularly sorry to have to make such a complaint in view of the feeling that was growing in New Zealand for a separate Conference. Several members promptly expressed a wish to be relieved of their duties in favour of the New Zealand visitors. The Rev. Mr. Wo oil? Rutledge informed Mr. Slade that the matter was an oversight. He added that it would be difficult to alter arrangements now, twi the literature of the Conference had Iwen circulated. The Rev. Mr. Williams referred to the fact that a reunion to he held to-morrow night was called "a gathering of our own folk," and New Zealand evidently did not belong to "our own folk." ... J Mr. Rutledge explained that the particular gathering referred to was not. able to carry more than four speakers, and in order to give the presidents in other States an opportunity, the President of N«w South Wales also had been left out. They could not do everything, even ,to please the New Zealanders.
