Mr. G. E. Butler,' an \rtist whose work is well known in Wellington and other parts of New Zealand, has had a successful inarch through Great Britain. A letter received by the latest mail states that Mr. Butler has had pictures accepted and hung this year in the Royal Academy, London, the: Royal Scottish Academy, Edinburgh, the Royal. Glasgow Institute of Fine Arts, and the Bristol Art Gallery.

The Minister for Education (the Hon. G. Fowlds) will be in Auckland next week. On the 7tli prox. Mr. Fowlds will attend the dinner to be given at the Pacific Club to surviving, members of the House of Representatives who have sat for any Auckland constituency since 1854, and he will attend tho official opening of the Helensville Springs on' June 10.
