Irish, who -was reported to be suffering from the effects of his fall while contesting the- Wanganui Steeplechase- on Thursday last, was exercised at Ellorslio yesterday | morning. Tho Eton gelding handled himself satisfactorily, and he walked away ail j right. There it, now every prospect of Irish I fulfilling bis engagement in the Great Northern Steeplechase, and it is within the bounds of possibility that the bay gelding will be given an opportunity of also earning distinction in tho Great Northern Hurdle Race. i Cavalry was schooled over ? few hurdles i yesterday afternoon. Ho got rid of his rider at one of the obstacles; but no damage was done, and on being caught and rejmounted ho jumped satisfactorily. ; I/O Beau was brought up from New Plyi mouth yesterday by the s.s. Botoiti. I The Great Northern Hurdle Race favourite, Mahoe, was not brought up from New Plymouth by the s.s. Rotoiti as expected. The Sou'-wester gelding will arrive to-dav by the s.s. Barawa.
