LAND SETTLEMENT.

AUCKLAND AREAS TO ,BE * . A OPENED.

WAIMAXA AND OTHER * ESTATES. At tbo meeting of the Auckland Land s Board yesterday it .was decided to throw open for settlement several areas of land |in the Auckland district. | The Waimana Estate (Bay of Plenty), tho most important, of the areas, was dealt with at the meeting. It was decided that the estate be classified as follows, and opened for application under the Land for Scttleiment Acts and regulations:—Group "A," dairy farms (first-class land), sections 3,8, 9, 11, 14, 15, and 16, comprising BS4 acres 2 roods 15 perches., Group " B," ordinary !farms (second-class laud), sections 1, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 13, 19, 20, and 21, comprising 3465 j acres 3 roods 15 perches. Group C," village allotments, lots 22 to 33 (inclusive), lots 35, 37, and 3, 4 acres 1 rood. A great deal of this land is suitable for dairying, i It was resolved that the Teasdale eettlejment, near To Awamutu, be classified as ] follows, and opened for application under the Land for Settlement Act and regulations:—4j!roup "A. township lots: Lot? 11 to 20; lots 23, 24, 34, to 37; lots 40 to 44, 46 to 51, 59 to 64. Group " B," suburban lots: Lots 1 to 4; lot 6: lots 52 to 53; lots 70 to 85; lots 87 to 94; lots 97 to 117. 'it was also decided that the classification of | the land bo first-class land for the purposes of the Act. I In addition to the above ? areas, a block 'of about 30,000 acres of second-class Crown [land, near Opofciki;-will be shortly opened for selection under the Act of 1b92. The ■ land is chiefly of the class suitable for cattle- | raising. The ballots for the above lands will take place in July or August next. It was also decided by tho Board yesterday; to throw the following areas of .Crown land oeen under the Land Act, 1.92: — Block.-XIV., Russell S.D., 515 acres, at 7s bd; Block XVI., Otanewainuku S.D., 255 acres at 25s per acre, 403 acres at 25s per acre, 319 acres at .25s per acre; Block XIII., Maketu S.D.,' 487 acres at 25a per acre, 589 acres at 25s per acre ; Block XIII., Maketu S.D., 218 acres at 22s 6d acre, 305 acres at 25s per acre; Block I v., Itotorua 5.D.,. 444 acres at 32s 6d per acre, 385 ; acres at. 30s per acre, 493 acres at 30s per acre; Section 1, Block IV., Orahiri, 397 acres 2 roods, at 12s; section 26, Block IX., Hukerenui, 194 acres, at lis (under section 121 of tho Land Act' 1892); section 3, parish of Ruakaka, 280 acres 1 rood 38 perches, at 10s; 84, Ruakaka, 204 acres 3 roods 18 perches, at. 10s; 27. Section 2, Block | IV., Takahue, 264 acres 3 roods 14 perches, I at 12s 6d. ; It was decided that lots 1 to 4, !Block V., Matamata township, each containing 1 acre, bo re-opened at 15s par halfI yearly rental. " | The following workmen's homes sections are to be opened:—Under the Land for Settlement Act: Section 19, Cradock Hamlet, 3 acres 1 rood, at £1 19s 9d per halfyear; section 2, Block VI., Matamata township, Lrood, at cash price. £160; section 6, Block XV., Wairere S.D.
