NO-LICENSE LEAGUE.
' [ST TELEGRAPH.—OWN CORRESPONDENT.] ; \ Wellington. Tuesday. A, MEETING of; the Wellington City No•;.License; League^: was held last night, the Rev.. W.. J.; Comrie. presiding. The executive. committee reported t that the ; New Zealand-Alliance was still burdened with the debt of £2000 which had been incurred during the campaign of 1905 on behalf of many of the electorates, and that though satisfactory arrangements had been made for raising the annual income it - was found. impossible to pay "off so large a debt. - Several generous offers of help had been made, conditional on the whole £2000 being* raised* by t the end of June, and promises amounting to £1600 had already been received. ■':;, The league had been asked to help, ';. and the committee ; recommended that the alliance should be allowed to retain all subscriptions to .the colonial fund received in Wellington up 'to-September . 30, 1907, provided that the alliance un- , dertook to pay all the; expenses of the league up. to the , end of this year, and to co-operate with the league" in raising a large campaign fund for local work in ; 1908. The league adopted the recommendation. ■ , , . -
