' Fhe ; district cup competitions, under tho iuspices of the Auckland Rugby Union, wore continued. on Saturday, tho . three 'isenior •matches being played"on> the Alexandra Park ground. ' Tho weather was showery all the afternoon, several smart, and at times heavy, downpours occurring during the play, but this did not affect the progress of any of tho senior matches. Notwithstanding- the weather,., there was a-.fair ; attendance. Much interest was centred in. ; tho match between Parnell and North Shore,. last season's . runners-up. The former justified the greatest r hopes of their V : supporters in winning by tho substantial margin of 22 points to nil. On tho No. 2 ' ground,. Ponsonby met Newton, and after a fairly even game tho former triumphed '.'-■ by 6 points to nil. -The game between, City and Grafton, on No.- 3 ground, was more of, a practice for the City team, for they won easily by 27 points to nil.
