After the destruction of the French battleship lena through deterioration of the explosives on board, , the British Admiralty ordered an inquiry into the condition of the explosives on its ships. As a result of this inquiry, a system of ventilation'has been ordered to be installed in the magazines of all British warships. Carbonic acid gas is to be used to. keep the temperature below 70 degrees.
