Melbourne, May 20. ;« Mr. Deakin's prediction as to the downfall of Labour in Australia has been re- ' ceived with astonishment in Labour ranks here. Mr. Prendergast, the State Labour ■ leader, suggests that to his mind, Mr. Deakin found himself in the position of Baron Munchausen, who, when losing the confidence of the peoplo of Africa, resorted to the expedient of importing shiploads of ''fudge." Mr. Deakin apparently has been following the austere example.
