Rice, deserve the greatest credit. : On Saturday afternoon, the 11th hist., the Manawar.u Vricket players visited the Gordon Settlement to finish the final match of the season with the local • team, the game resulting in the defeat of the visitors by 43 to lour. It may be mentioned that this is the second time during the last few seanous that the Gordon* side has disposed of its; opponents for the small score of four runs, the former occasion being when playing the Waiorongomai Club on its own ground.- Messrs. Montague and Thompson did the bowling, and J. Montague the batting for the victors, whilst- Messrs. Davis, Hawkins.* and Tettley did the - best services for the losing .team. < Recently the. workmen employed by the Board of Education have been engaged in effecting various sanitary improvements in connection with the Waharoa School. The Hon. James McGowan, Minister for Mines and Justice, recently paid a visit to his Waharoa relatives, and while in that district took the opportunity of considering local requirements. "Towards tho beginning of the week the local weather set in fine, and extensive, road repairing; took place, but towards the end of the .week the rain has been almost incesaant, so. that all the roads aro in a very bad condition.
