A VALUABLE HORSE KILLED. Two runaways of a sensational character occurred in College Hill yesterday morning. •...;, V.' As two drays filled with earth were turning from New-street into College Hill, the leading, horse of the front vehicle was 'startled by a ■ passing tramcar. The animals immediately bolted down-the hill, and the-noise which was created caused the horses in the other dray to follow suit. : The drivers were quite unable to control the animals,, and the leading.. dray, after . going some distance, crashed into a telegraph pole, snapping it almost in two. | The impact' smashed the harness, leaving the animals free. They stopped for an instant, and then continued their career. , •Meanwhile the other dray had reached the curve near England-street, and the horses were galloping furiously, when the leader pulled across the footpath, dragging ths shaft norse, on to another telegraph pole. The harness attached to the -leading horse broke, and the animal conturned its flight, but th\ other lay dead, its neck and back having.', been broken by 1 ; th <!: collision with the pole. "."'
