It wis the? ifirst opportunity she had had in Auckland 'of appearing on the stage with its backcloths and footlights, but this did not remove the impression that given a complete mise-en-scene Mme. Anal would still have been the bright particular star around which orbs of lesser brilliancy revoked. The audience was cordial, enthusiastic—and in some measure critical; nevertheless the applause was- as general as it was spontaneous, and hearty, Mme. Arral achieved a complete triumph in her selections from "Mignon,'. " tu 1c pay," "Chant d'Hirondelle," "the cantabile, and the famous polacca. She made a profound impression by her rendering of the grand air "d'Ophelie" from Thomas' "Hamlet." Tho orchestra, led by Herr Paans, performed the overtures to "Si j'etais Roi "■ (Adam) and to "Le-Caid" (Thomas) and " Heine de Saba," also the gavotte in "Mignon."' To-morrow evening iMmo.
