REMUERA ROAD BOARD.
The monthly meeting of the Remuera Road Board, held last evening, was attended by Messrs. J. S. Dickson (chairman), C. Cawkvvell, and A. Bevitis.
Tramway tiers : In acknowledging receipt of the protest signed by 88 residents of Remuera against any alteration or deviation from the original Order-in-Council so far as it relates to the omnibus service. Mr. P. Hansen stated that he was forwarding a copy of the document to the company's London office. Mr. Hansen also forwarded ». cheque for £15 in settlement of claim for tin 1 cost of excavating and refilling gas trench during the laying of tramlines along Remuera Road. In reply to a complaint made as to the service to and from Remuera on Saturday afternoons Air. Hansen said lie had instructed the traffic manager to arrange for a more frequent service on Saturday afternoons when the traffic required~it. As soon as the four new cars were completed some time in July the present timetable would l>e revised and added to and the altered table submitted to the Board in duo course.
Lease of Railway Laud: Mr. T. Ronayne, General Manager of the New Zealand Railways, wrote in reference to the Board's application for the lease of a right-of-way from Racecourse Road to Greenlano, intimating that the otter of a strip of land, 6ft wide, on the western boundary of the railway land, the Board to fence tho ground on the railway side and to .orni the footpath, was still open _ior the Board to accept. The chairman stated that the Minister previously promised the Department would bear the cost of fencing and the footpath, and it was decided to ask the Minister to reconsider the decision now arrived at.
Straying Cattle: The secretary of the Auckland Diocese requested the Board to instruct its ranger to impound all cattle found on the unsold or unfeuced portion of the Shepherdton Estate. Authority was also given by Air. I). \V. Dutliie, as attorney for Mrs. O'Korke, to impound cattle straying on the unsold portion of the Clonbern Estate, An instruction to impound was issued to the ranger accordingly. Annual Election: The date of the annual election was fixed for May 2, and the annual meeting for May 1, in the Remuera .schoolroom.
Valedictory: The chairman thanked the members for the courtesy and the assistance, given him in carrying out the duties, during the past- year, and he hoped that if the same members were not returned at least the incoming Board would work as harmoniously as the past one had done.
