UNIVERSITY COLLEGE COUNCIL.

The ordinary meeting of the Auckland University College Council was held yesterday afternoon. The chairman (Sir G. Maurice O'Rorkel presided, and there were also present: .Messrs. (J. L. Peacocke, W. B. Colbeck, T. V. Wells, M.A., the Hon. J. A. Tole, the Rev. J. H. Simrnonds, and the Mayor of Auckland (Air. A. M. Myers), several matters were discussed in committee.

University Bursaries: The Professorial Board, reporting oil the regulations published by the Education Department concerning the award of University bursaries, suggested that regulations to the following effect be embodied:—"(a) That each candidate shall forward to the registrar of the affiliated college a certificate from tiie registrar of the University that he fulfils the conditions

"A" and "B" of section 1 of the terms and conditions tinder which the bursary is held, (b) That on receipt of applications, together with the necessary certificates, the registrar of the affiliated college shall submit the same to the Professorial Board for approval, (c) That, before the commencement of each session, every bursar shall send in to the Professorial Board a list of the subjects that lie intends to take up for the year. ' The Professorial Board also stated that it was desirable that they should have full particulars concerning all oursars at. the commencement of each session. The report was adopted, and it was decided to send a copy to the Department. Accounts: Accounts amounting to £509 4s ,d wore passed for payment. J'lie next meeting was fixed for Monday, day 20.
