A ROUGH TIME AT SEA. HEAVY RAINFALLS AND FLOODS. [iJY TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENTS.] Whangarei, Monday. Unusually heavy weather was encountered by the Kanieri on her trip from Auckland 011 Sunday. ' The steamer was lighting in the teeth of a violent storm all the way, and •'iter a trip occupying 14 hours arrived at the town wharf at halfpast ten p.m. Gishorne, Monday. The steamer Manapouri made a long trip of nearly 30 hours from Auckland yesterday. 'I lie vessel experienced adverse winds the whole way down. Waharoa, Monday. The has been a heavy downpour of rain all over this locality during the whole ■afternoon, r. id in consequence floods are pievailing everywhere. There are two small washout., on th-e Rotorua railway line between Walton and Kiwitahi. Ganger Cooney's men are now repairing the damage. Further floods are feared. [The Railway Department at Auckland state that no interruption to railway traffic has been reported as a result of the rain in the country districts.J Paerknga, Monday. A heavy gale, north-east to north, has prevailed since Saturday, and there are big Hoods throughout the district. Russell, Monday. Bad weather prevailed yesterday, and to-day heavy rain has fallen, with a north wind.
