A RAILWAY FATALITY.
WOMAN KILLED AT LYTTELTON

Lyttelton*, Sunday. About eight p.m. on Saturday night an elderly lady named Mrs. Amelia Bisphan, wife of Mr. George Bisphan, of Nelson, was run over and killed alongside th« railway platform at Lyttelton. Mrs. Bisphan, who was staying with her brother, Mr. Byron , v bootmaker, of Lyttelton, left Christchurch by the special through steamer train, with passengers for the Mararoa. Reaching Lyttelton, the train slowed down considerably. Mrs. Bisphan evidently attempted to alight at the eastern end of the platform, and fell under the carriage, -being killed instantly. The body was shockingly mangled, the chest being crushed in, and the left leg completely severed by the wheels. The inquest was held this afternoon, and a veidict was returned of accidental death, with no evidence to show how the woma» got under the train.
