fx the last. race, of the Boulder Racing Club meeting at Kalgoorlie on March 18. an ex citing finish took place between the favourite. Mora Mac, and J'eltord, a fen-to-one chance. 'I he race resulted m a win for Belford by a narrow margin. When the judge, Mr. Donnelly, hoisted the verdict, an extremely hostile demonstration occurred. Hundreds of people collected round the judge's lio.x, and started hooting. The owner of Flora Mac ru.-'lied over from the stand, and, mounting the platform outside the judge's 1 xix, addressed the crowd, lie stated that he had invested £100 for himself an his friends on Flora Mac. He had occupied a seat in the stand immediately behind the judge's box, and was thoroughly' satisfied with the verdict. The crowd refused to listen, and continued to hoot, the judge, who had to be escorted by uniformed and plain clothes police to the officials' enclosure. Several hundreds of people remained outside* the enclosure hooting and velliu" for some minutes.
