PARLIAMENTARY SESSION OF 1862.

A FORGOTTEN INCIDENT.

[BY TELEGRAPH. —rRESS ASSOCIATION.]

Blenheim, Thursday; Recently a narrative, published in the Express, of the wreck of the steamer White Swan, on the East Coast of the North Island, whilst conveying members of Parliament, to Wellington for the session of 1862, was challenged by a correspondent of that journal, who quoted the New Zealand Year Book to show that the seat of government was at Auckland until 1865. A letter written to the Clerk of the House of Representatives, elicited the fact that the statement was quite correct. A special session was held in Wellington in 1862, but the fact was not generally known, and it might, with advantage, be mentioned in the next issue of the Year Book.
