Christchurch, Thursday. Six sets of trucks for the Tramway Board's body cars arrive in Christchurch this week, and six new double-ended cars will be available for the board's lines soon. Hitherto the system has been cramped for rolling stock.
Thomas Livingstone was charged at the Police Court to-day with arson, by setting fire'to a dwellinghouse at Canal Reserve on April 1. Ho was remanded till April 11.
Dunedin, Thursday. The Otago Harbour Board has decided to grant the Shipwrecked Sailors' Belief Society £10.
Wellington, Thursday. At the inquest to-day concerning the death of Daniel McKay, late cook on the scow Rangi, whose body was found in the harbour, a verdict of " Found drowned" was returned.
The local branch of the Navy League entertained the Japanese visitors at an. " At Home" this afternoon.
