WORKERS' DWELLINGS.

[BY TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT.]

DtiMcnrx, Thursday. A visit was paid to the YVindle settlement of workers' homes this morning by the Hon. J. A. Millar, Minister for Labour, and Mr. Mackay, of the Labour Department. Both gentlemen were well pleased with what they saw. About two-thirds of the houses are already occupied, and one of the tenants said that if the workers of Dunedin only knew what comfortable homes were waiting for them at Windle the houses available would be rushed. To cope with the accommodation evidently required in and around Christchurch, the establishment of a settlement at Addiugton is being considered. Mr. Millar leaves with Mr. Mackay to-morrow for Christchurch to inspect some land close to the Addington workshops, recently placed under offer to the Government.
