THE SENTENCE ON GOURLAY.

London, April 3. The sentence passed on engine-driver Gourlay, for neglect of orders that resulted in the Elliot Junction railway disaster, has been reduced to three months' imprisonment.

Gourlay was sentenced on March 12 to five months' imprisonment. The- charge against, him was that ho disobeyed the Arbroath stationmaster, who told him that, owing to a snowstorm, he must stop at all stations. Instead of doing this, ho ran into Elliot Junction, and caused the' accident. The disaster happened on December 28.
