FIRES.

Inspector Cniux received a. telegram from Taumarunui yesterday stating that Mr. Dallas' premises were destroyed by fire early yesterday morning. A shop, doctor's and chemist's rooms, a billiard-room, and a smithy were all destroyed, nothing l>emi? saved. How the fire originated is a mystery. A fire occurred at the east end of the town a little after midnight last night, when a shop, owned by Mr. Parkinson, commercial traveller, of Auckland, was destroyed. The building lias been unoccupied for some time, but at the time of the fire wan used by Mr. S. McGill for storing his furniture prior to removal to Auckland, where Mr. and Mrs. McGill are at present, The origin is a mystery, as there was no tire in the building for some time The building and contents were completely destroyed. There was an insurance of £100 in the. Sun office on the furniture, but it is not yet known whether there was any insurance on the shop.
