NORTH SHORE METHODIST CIRCUIT. ! The quarterly meeting of tic North Shore Methodist Circuit took place at Devonporl on Wednesday evening, the Rev. S. Griffith presiding. Special interest marked tho proceedings, this being the last-meeting prior to the division of the circuit, by which Birkenhead now becomes the bead of a new circuit, under the superintendency of tho Rev. G. S. Cook. The financial statement was satisfactory, and the reports concerning tho Sunday-schools and Wesley Guilds were encouraging. It was announced that, a gift Sunday was held recently at Devonport on behalf of the organ fund, over £30 being donated, in addition lo a previous donation of £2o given by Mr. J. Edson. A new organ had also been secured at Sunnyside. A brief report oil the recent conicrcnco

was presented by Mr. S. Stone, lay representative, and the meeting endorsed the action of the Rev. S. Griffith in guaranteeing a sum equal to one shilling per member towards the liquidation of the homo mission debt. The request of the circuit presented as a memorial to the conference that invitations to minister.-, bo given in December. instead of September, was not granted, and a reply was received to that eli'ect. The members of the Devonport quarterly meeting subsequently met, when Messrs. ,1. 1. Buddie and W. Johnstone were elected as I circuit stewards for the ensuing year. i ONEHUNGA SCHOOL COMMITTEE. The ordinary monthly meeting of i.he Onehunga School Committee was heid at the High School last evening, when there were present: Messrs. J. .J. Shuldrick iciia-rmanj, W. 0. Waits, S. R. Skinner, W. G. Breeso, H. I. Horn, A. S. Holmes, W. Morton, jun., and S. J. Brookfreld (secretary). Finance: The secretary announced a credit balance of £21 15s lud, and accounts amounting to ijl lbs lid were passed for payment. Dividing Fence: Tne Hoard of Education wrote declining to entertain the request to refund the cost ol crtcting the dividing fence between the new playground and Mr. McKeuzic's property. Lantern Lectures: Mr. Gilchrist offered to deliver a series of lantern illustrated lectures, on condition that ho was allowed tho uso of the schoolroom. The members were favourable to the proposal, but decided io allow it. to stand over for the consideration of the new committee.

School Picnic: The secretary reported a deficit on the school picnic, and this tho members decided to liquidate. Master's Avenue: A report was received from the Yard Committee, dealing with the Master's Avenue, to the effect that the Board should cany out the necessary im-

provements. Valedictory: The chairman announced that it was not. his intention to stand for reelection. Of the present committee, only Messrs. H. T. Horn, XV. C. Watts. A. S. Holmes, W. G. Brcese, S. K. Skinner, and W. Morton, jun., intend seeking re-election.

ONEHUNGA LIBERAL AND LABOUR FEDERATION.

A fairly well attended meeting of the Onehunga branch of the Liberal and Labour Federation was held in the Foresters' Hall last evening, to consider the question oi supporting candidates for the coming municipal election. Considerable discussion ensued, and no action was taken. Tile branch, therefore, v.ill not submit a ticket on this occasion. In order to maintain interest in the branch, it was resolved, '-That tho General and Executive Committee meet, and formulate a scheme to be. submitted at a future meeting." ST. BARNABAS' ASSOCIATION". A garden party was held yesterday at Bishopscourt, Parnell. when all the members of the organisations helping the Melaucsian mission 'ere invited to meet Bishop and Mrs. Wilson. One particular feature of the afternoon was a presentation of a cheque for £50, to be used for the « ection of a missionary's house on some island. his was the gift of the "original St. Barnabas Association," which was a guild of mission helpers, known by that name before the Bishop of Melanesia extended the plan of such asociations amongst manv of the parishes throughout the colony. This particular guild lias members in it from many Auckland parishes, and it has proved itself over and over again ready and capable to vie to the supply of certain special wants Til? cheque was handed to Bishop Wilson by Mrs. Neligan, on behalf of the association with a few appropriate words, and the Bishop spoke very gratefully of the gift in his speech.
