DRUNKENNESS.

Thomas McDonald, charged with drunkenness and with procuring liquor during the currency of a prohibition order, was remanded for x. week, to ascertain whether the Costley Home authorities would admit him into the home. Defendant denied the charges, stating that he was not drunk, but was only suffering from the effects of " sword exercises."

John B. Dunn, charged with drunkenness (a fourth offence within six months) and with committing a breach of his prohibition order, was sentenced to three months' imprisonment. For a similar offenco Alexander Young was fined 10s and costs on the chargo cf drunkenness, and convicted and discharged on the other charge. For .drunkenness and procuring liquor during the currency of a prohibition order, Elizabeth Austin was convicted and ordered to oomo up for sentence on Saturday next.

Four first offenders wore charged with drunkenness. Two were each fined 5s and costs, or in default 24 hours' imprisonment. One was convicted and discharged on paying cab hire, 2s 6d, and another who did not. appear was ordered to forfeit the amount of bail (£1).
