THE PREMIER PICNIC.

The Premier Picnic takes place to-day at Motntapu, and special steamer arrangements have been made to cope with the enormous number of persons who are expected to attend the gathering. Steamers will leave the ferrv lee at nine a.m.. half-past nine a.m., ten a.m., twelve noon, one p.m., half-past one- p.m., and two p.m., and two brass bands will bo in attendance. At the island a large ami attractive sports programme will be gone through, and a gymnastic display will be given by 56 students from the Cost-ley Institute. An event that should be of special interest to mothers is the baby show, for which competition entries will be received on the ground. The first prize is on view in 'he window of Messrs. Dick and Cowdeii, Karangahapo Road.
