Wirth Bros.' circus, arrived in Auckland yesterday, to make arrangements for a short season here, opening on Tuesday, February 26. Mr. and Mrs. G. B. Chirnsido and Miss Chirnside, of Victoria, arrived at Wellington from Sydney by the Mab.eno on Wednesday last. They intend to spend some weeks in the Rotorua district. Mr. Henry Brett, who has been chairman 3f the local board of directors of the Kauri Timber Company for several years, has resigned, and the Melbourne board has appointed Mr. L. J. Bagnall in his stead. Mr. L. J. Bagnall, chairman of the Auckland Board of Education, left by the Rarawa for New Plymouth yesterday, en route to attend a conference of advisory boards of training colleges, which, will be held at Wellington this week. Mr. W. S. Whitley, jun., of Auckland, who lias been on an extended visit to Australia, has returned to New Zealand, and is at present at Palmerston North. Mr. Whitley's many friends in Auckland will be pleased to learn that his health has been very much improved by his holiday
