(Received February 11, 12.59 a.m.) Sydney, February 10. Two young children have contracted plague, and one lias died. The source of the infection is somewhat uncertain. THE FORTY-FOUR HOURS' WEEK. Melbourne, February 9. Its appear | ance there is attributed to use of refuse i bananas as a fertilizer. THE BUNDERG FIRE. Brisbane, February 9. In the fire at the Old Bond distillery at Bundftberg 42,000 gallons of spirit were destroyed. The total damage was between £3000 and! £4000. THE NAVIGATION CONFERENCE. Sydney, February 9. The Institute of Marine Engineers entertained Mr. Hislop, one of the New Zealand representatives to the Imperial Navigation Conference, last evening.
