DOMESTIC DIFFERENCES.
A CLAIRVOYANT AND HER
HUSBAND
[BY TELEGRAPH. — OWN' CORRESPONDENT.]
Wellington, Monday. " From her own evidence she is* a wanderer on the face of the earth," was what Dr. A. McArthur, S.M., to-day remarked in the Police Court in "summing up" a Mrs. Barton, clairvoyant, who applied for a maintenance order against her husband, Herbert Barton, wood turner. The case for informant was that she had established several homes for herself, and desired that defendant should Ik< ordered to. pay for the maintenance of their two children. Informant represented that she was willing to look after the children, and that defendant was not a person whom she could leave them with.
Defendant, in giving the Court his side of flu- story, said that Mrs. Barton had "never been ;t mother;*' sl«o always left the children with him. Witness went on to say that at one time his wife was a good woman, but when she commenced to give "readings" at his pla/v the home was always full of men and women. When asked to give up this business defendant said his wife stated that she did not want him or the children, she was going to navel. Defendant Raid he. was prepared to take tin- children and look after them.
His Worship said it appeared that Mrs. Barton wanted to get 10.-? or 7s a week out of defendant, and then take the children to an orphanage. Defendant's testimonials were good. If Mrs. Barton did not want the children she could give them to her husband, who was prepared to take them. No order would l>e made.
