THE GOVERNOR AND THE ADMIRAL

PRESIDENT ROOSEVELT'S DECISION.

WILL IGNORE THE INCIDENT.

By Telegraph.— Press Association.— Copyright.

(Received January 24, 11.5 p.m.)

New York, January 24. The Acting-Secretary of State for the United States, Mr. Bacon, replying to Sir Edward Grey's telegram as to the Swettenham-Davis incident, intimates that President Roosevelt will pay no heed whatever to the incident, but he very much appreciates Sir Edward Grey's frank and ready courtesy and consideration, and sincerely reciprocates Great Britain's cordial spirit. He is gratified that it has been possible for America to show in any piactical way, however small, her friendship for a British community at a time of such suffering and need.
