GISBORNE NOTES.

[BY TELEGRAPH. —OWN' CORRESPONDENT.] Gisborne, Thursday. Fifty men are now employed on tin llephan-Ferguison Company's contract in connection with the water supply, and nearly 40 on the reticulation works in the town. A groat improvement is being made in the flocks of the district, large numbers of Intro-class lams and ewes being imported by various sheep fanners. Almost every steamer from the South brings consignments of stud stock. The transfer of Mr. Miner, chief postmaster, to Inveroargill, has been cancelled upon Mr. Rennet's application.
