Railways. MEW 2 K ALA NT) RAILWAYS. INTERRUI'TION OF LINES BY FLOODS. From 23rd inst. and until further notice the following alterations in the week-day train service will be made : Tile usual 7.50 a.m. train Auckland to Franlston, 10 a.m. train Auckland to Rotorua 1.10 i", train Auckland to Mercer, the 4.15 p.m. train Auckland to Frankton will only run as far as Pokeno. The usual 6.50 a.m. and 8.2-5 a.m. trains from Mercer will not run. Trains will leave l'okeno for Auckland as follows: — Pokeno depart 7 a.m.. running on usual time of 6.50 a.m. train from Mercer; Pokeno dep. 8.40 a.m.. running on usual time of 8.25 a.m. train from Mercer; I'okeno dep. 12.13 p.m., running on usual time of 10 a.m. train j from Frankton: Pokeno dep. 5.10 p.m.. running on usual time of 1.40 p.m. express from Frankton, stopping at usual express stopping stations and where required to set down pas- . sengers ex steamer (as this train will connect ! from Waikato .steamer service it may run later than usual timet: Pokeno dep. 5.19 p.m., running on time of usual 2.15 p.m. train from Frankton. The 4.45 a.m. train Mercer to Frankton will not run. but a poods train with accommodation for passengers will leave Hiuitly at 9.15 a.m. for Frankton. stopping where required. The 10 a.m., 1.40 p.m.. and 2.15 p.m. trains from Frankton Junction to Auckland will only run to Huntly. The 12.40 p.m. .train from Huntly to Rotorua. will run as usual, and will stop where required between Frankton iind Morrinsville. A train stopping where required will leave Huntly for Frankton, Rotorua. Cambridge. Taumarunui, Thames, and Waihi. at 12.40 p.m., and a train stopping where required will leave Huntly after rival of steamer service from Pokeno. (SEE BELOW.) The 6.20 a.m. and 9.50 a.m. trains from Rotorua will only run to Huntly, making usual stops: in addition the 9-30 a.m. train will stop where required between Morrinsville and Huntly. All other train services will run as usual. - All traffic is suspended between Huntly and Pokeno (except by steamer service as below). STEAMER SERVICE ON WAIKATO RIVER. Until further notice steamers for conveyance of passengers, luggage, parcels, small lots of urgent and perishable goods will run between Pokeno and Huntly daily (Sundays included), connecting with trains to and froiji Auckland and Hamilton. Passengers from Auckland end will require to leave Auckland by the 7.50 a.m. train for Pokeno, and will join steamer there for Huntly. On arrival at Huntly, train will he in readiness to take passengers from Huntly to Cambridge. Hamilton, and Te Awamutu. except, on Sundays, on which days trains will only run to Hamilton. Passengers for Rotorua and Taumarunui lines will be able to get through to destination on following day, excepting those leaving Auckland on Saturday, who will go through by ordinary train on Monday. Passengers from South will on week days travel to Huntly by 10 a.m. train from Frankton (connecting with early train from Te Awamutu. Paeroa, and Cambridge), and on Sunday by a. special train leaving Hamilton at. 9.50 a.m., and will join steamer at Huntly for I'okeno. On arrival of steamer at Pokeno. train will be in readiness to convey passengers to Auckland, reaching Auckland about 5 p.m. There will also be a steamer connection from Huntly to i'okeno by the 1.40 p.m. from Frankton daily, except Sundays, and a connecting train from Pokeno to Auckland. This will enable passengers from Rotorua. Taumarunui. and Waihi (and from Te Aroha, Cambridge, and Te Awamutu by midday trains) to get through to Auckland in one day. Train will reach Auckland about, 9 p.m., arrival time at Auckland depending on the river service. Passengers holding through tickets taken out on or before Monday, .January 14, will, on application to the stationhiastcr at lluntly (it travelling from south), and to the stationmaster at l'okeno (if travelling from north), be supplied with a free pass for the steamer. Passengers who do not hold through tickets will be booked to Pokeno or Huntly, as the case may be, and will require to pay their own steamer fare (6s) between Pokeno and Huntly. Parcels and small lots of urgent and perishable goods at parcels rates will be booked through over steamer service from stations north of Pokeno to stations south of Huntly. and vice versa. ' Steamer charge, 9d per cwt (minimum charge 6d) will be added to the rail freight. Consignments of parcels, etc., accepted under this arrangement must be handed to the Department in time for despatch by the 4.15 p.m. train from Auckland, and will be sent forward by earliest possible steamer service from Pokeno to Huntly, thence to destination by rail. Consignors of goods who wish to forward goods (other than parcels and goods accepted as above-mentioned for conveyance by Railway Department) by way of the Waikato River service will require to make their own arrangements with the river steamers, and for conveyance between the railway at Huntly or Pokeno and the steamers, and such goods will only be accepted bv the Railway Department for conveyance to Pokeno (from stations north of that station) and to Huntly (from stations south of that station), and freight to Pokeno or Huntly, as the case may be. must be prepaid. The Department will give every possible assistance with the despatch of such goods, but will accept no responsibility- beyond the point to which rail freight is paid. The line between Thames, Paeroa. and naikato stations is oi>en for all traffic. PASSENGERS ARE ADVISED TO TAKE AS LITTLE LUGGAGE AS POSSIBLE. AS THE ACCOMMODATION ON STEAMERS IS LIMITED.
