Consignments from Auckland will require to be handed to the Department in time for despatch by the 4.15 p.m. Train, and will i )t . sent forward by earliest possible Steamer service from Pokeno to Huutly, thence to deitination by rail. Particulars of Rail and Steamer Charges can be obtained on application at Railwav S tat ion. The Railway Department will not be responsible in any way for the Steamer Services or for Parcels or Goods conveyed initio Steamers. The line is now opened for traffic from Thames and Paeroa to all stations south of Huntly. The Express Train will run between Pokeno and Auckland- As the North Express waits at Pokeno till steamer has arrived from Huntly, it may lie later than time-table time. BY ORDER. TennersMEW ZEALAND-NEW CALEDONIA (VIA NORFOLK ISLAND) STEAM SERVICE. Tenders are invited bv the New Zealand Government for a Steam Service. New Zealand to New Caledonia, via Norfolk Island. CONDITIONS. Tenders to provide for— (a) FOUR-WEEKLY SERVICE. (b) SIX-WEEKLY SERVICE. Loading and Discharging in New Zealand at Auckland, Wellington, and Melton. Lyttelton to oe the terminal port, and Auckland to be the filial port of departure in New Zealand. Contract to be for a period of one. two or three years, at Government's option. Steamers, after departure lrom New Zealand. to call at Norloik Island and Noumea (New Caledonia), mud, it sufficient inducement offer, to call at Vila (New Hebrides:. Steamers on return voyage to call at Norfolk Island, at Auckland, and thence to Wellington and Lyttelton. Steamers to be not lest than 750 tons gross register, and to he aole to load and discharge cargo at jxjrts specified above. Lignterage. when necessary, to be paid bv Contractors. Speed of Steamers to be stated by tenderers. Steamers are required to be fitted and well equipped for Passenger and Cargo trade, and generally adapted tor this *errice. Steamers to contain accommodation for not less than 30 saloon and 10 steerage passengers. Steamers to have sufficient cool space or refrigerator on board to supply at least the above number of passengers with fresh food throughout the voyage. Steamers to have suitable space on board for carriage of H.M. mails. Steamers to have accommodation to carry dairy and farm produce to port of destination in good order and condition, and. if required, to be able to carry live stock to Norfolk Island, Noumea, or New Hebrides. Tenderers to state rates of freight- and passenger money required between all ports specified. No tender will, however, be entertained if rales of freight- or passenger money are in excess of those ruling from Sydney to specified ports at the present time. Tenderers to make their schedule of freights 011 an equal basis from the ports of Auckland, Wellington, and Lyttelton. Tenderers to state what period of time before berthing the first, steamer in New Zealand, such time to count from the date of acceptance of the tender. Tenderers are requested to state the amounts of subsidy required per annum for either of the above services, and on a basis of one. two. and three years' contract, A tender and its acceptance are to be considered the establishment of a contract binding 011 both sides, the cardinal points to be consistent with this advertisement, the tender and its acceptance. Should any dispute arise over minor points, the matter in dispute shall be referred to arbitration. A deposit of One Thousand Pounds is to accompany each tender, and in the case of a successful tenderer to be returned upon completion of contract, and on the. lodgment of a satisfactory bond. Marked, written, or telegraphic Tenders, addressed to the Secretary for Industries and Commerce. Wellington. New Zealand, will be received up to and including the twentyeighth day of February, 1907. The Wellington Harbour Board invites Tenders for the Purchase of One Thousand Debentures of £100 each, part of a Loan of £85*3,000 authorised by " The Wellington Harbour Board Act. 1002." and "The Wellington Harbour Board Empowering Act, 1902, Amendment Act, 1903." The Debentures will be issued subject to half-yearly drawings, extending from the 28th February, 1912, to 23th August. 1946. The average duration of the Loan will be 28} ! years. The Debentures will bear interest at the rate of £4 5s per centum per annum, from tho 28th February. 1907, payable by coupons - half-yearly, on the 28th August and the 28th February in each year.
