Sir Joseph, in order that he shall ii"! leave the colony without paying a visit to Auckland, has decided to make Auckland his port of departure from New Zealand lor the Old Country, where he will attend the Impel ill anil Maritime Conferpuces. '1 he Premier is to lie entei tained at. Wellington on Thursday night, and he will in ail probability leave there for Auckland on Friday morning, arrive here 011 Saturday morning, and leave for Sydney, en route to England. on Monday evening. This will be Sir Joseph's iirst vu>it to Auckland fiiiiec his anession to the Piemieiship. A request- has been made, to the Premier to address a. public meeting in Auckland. A deputation of citizens waited upon the Mayor (Mr. A. M. Myers) yesterday afternoon. and presented him with a requisition signed by 14 citizens, including the chairmen of the Education and Harbour Hoards, the vice-president of the Chamber of Commerce, the Mayor of Paruell. the secretary of the Seamen's Union, and others. ' Those signing the requisition suggested that the Mayor should ask Sir Joseph to deliver an address on Saturday night. His Worship acceded, and. after discussing the matter, lie sent the following telegram to the Premier:—"ln response to representative deputation I have the honour and pleasure of asking you to address a public, meeting oil Saturday evening next, at eight o'clock, and sincerely trust you will be able to accede to our request. assuring you hv so doing it. would give great satisfaction and be much appreciated by citizens of Auckland."
