IMPROVED SUEZ SERVICE

Interviewkd iii Christchurch to-day, the Premier stated that he had asked the Union Steam Ship Co. and the Huddart-Parker people to put on another connecting steamer to Australia every fortnight. If that was done it would give New Zealand a regular mail service via Suez once a fortnight. Tie hoped when in Dunedin to complete the negotiations in connection with the proposal.
THE BRINDISI SERVICE [HY TI'XUUHAI'H. — l'KKss ASSOCIATION.] \Yki.t.in'<;ton, Thursday. The Chamber of Commerce decided to approach the I'ntstniastei-Geneia!, urging that the Sydney steamer from Wellington should leave every Friday, instead of once in three weeks, to connect with the Brinclisi mail.
THE ENGLISH MAILS, 'the mail steamer Sonoma, with the British mails which left Loudon on December 15. is due at Auckland from San Francisco to-dav.
The colonial mails, via Suez, which left Auckland on December 5, were delivered in Loudon on Friday night last.
