THE INQUIRY AT HASTINGS. [BY TELEGRAPH. — PRESS ASSOCIATION ] Napier, Tuesday. A Commission of Inquiry was opened at Hastings to-day, before Mr. J. W. Poynton. Public Trustee, into certain allegations said to have been made that the signatures' of some natives to a. deed of sale of a portion, of the YVaimarama. Block to the Government had been obtained while the natives were tinder the influence of drink. The evidence of the -whole of the witnesses., with one exception, was in disproof of the allegations.
