In investment stocks Taupiri Coal Alines =old at 20s 6d. and more were available at 21s; buyer? only came up to 20s 3d. Northern Steamships {paid- up) woro sold at 17s, late sellers 17s 3d, buyers 15s 9d. Northern Steamships (contributing) made 3s and 7s lid, and 7s 9d was the highest offered in the- late, call, sellers 7s lid. In mining Talisman Consolidated? were bought at from 32s 3d to 32s 6d. More were offering at that figure, but buyers kept down to 32?. Waiotahis sold from 28s 3d to 28s 9d. and while late buyers were willing to do business at 22s 6d sellers would not accept less than 2os 9d. Waihis were wanted at £3 15s, and later at £8 las, sellers were asking £8 18s: no business resulted. Waitangis (contributing) sold at 4s 4d, closing price 4s sd, with buyers at 4s 3d. FRUIT AND PRODUCE MARKETS. Business 011 the local fruit and produce markets has be.en again fairly brisk dining the past week, supplies of most lines coming forward freely. In poiatoo!" there have been steady supplier of new locally-grown varieties, which met with a ready sale, although at slightly reduced values on IJiose of last week. Onions were, also more plentiful at lower rates. The market for chaff was lower, owing to the lateness of the season. Poultry were penned in large numbers, chiefly only of medium quality, but prices were unchanged. In dairy produce butter and eggs sold under keen competition, without, alteration in prices. There was no change in cheese, bacon, or hams. In fruit there was a good supply of all local Reasonable varieties, which sold under good competition. Local cherry plums were in larger supply and prices dropped. A large shipment of bananas arrived from Tonga by the Atua on Thursday and met a good market. The Taviuui is due from Fiji on Tuesday with another large shipment, which, according to the present indications, will also meet a good market. TARANAKI WOOL, SKIN. HIDE, AND TALLOW SALES. Mr. Newton King reports:—On Tuesday, the 4t.h inst., I held my usual monthly sale. The catalogue comprised 1275 sheepskins, 992 hides, 4967 calfskins. 30 bales, one lodge, and '51 sacks wool, 1801b horsehair. 13 casks and 11 tins tallow, and 100 sacks bones. Wool and sheepskins advanced in value, while tallow, hides, and calfskins showed a decline on the exceptionally high prices obtained last sale. I quote — Wool: Fleece.
