A PROJECTED INCREASE

(Received December 6, 9.30 p.m.) London, December 6. The Tokio correspondent of the Times reports that Japan contemplates changes that will enable her to place an army of 750,000 men in the fie id.
■ The Minister for War stated in Parliament that the sale object of the increase was to secure peace, by making Japan too formidable to be attacked. Some of the Ministers had dissented from the proposal, but had finally agreed to it.
Japan's total forces nt present, including reserves, number 652, men. of whom 167,629 are with the colour.--. This number has been achieved by reducing the period of service with the colours to two vcaii.
