NEW ZEALAND AMATEUR ROWING ASSOCIATION. [BY TELEGRAPH. — PRESS ASSOCIATION.] Wellington*, Saturday. The New Zealand Amateur Rowing Association passer! the programme for the championship regatta to be held at Christchurch on February 16, and also agreed that maiden races at Lyttelton regatta should be rowed in stump outriggers. It was resolved that a written declaration must be received from judges at regattas as to the placing of the crews before prize money is paid over. ~ ~f AUCKLAND ROWING CLUB.;;' The Auckland Rowing Club opened the season with trial fours on Saturday afternoon for trophies presented 'by »Sceates Brother*. There was a large attendance of members and friends. The Rowing Association was represented by Messrs. Morau, Wade and Benjamin ; the latter gentleman also acted as judge, and gave every satisfaction. Mr. Franklyn officiated as starter. and generously lent his launch, Royal George, to the officials of the club for the day. The racing was of a very high order. The first heat was won by Lovett's crew by a length, the second heat by Forshaw's crew, and tho last heat by Strickett's crew by a few feet, after an exciting contest. The final brought out crews stroked by Lovett, Strickett, and Forshaw. All got away together from a splendid start, and kept close to each other for three-parts of the way, when Strickett's crew began to get a strong wind and tide against them, and fell back a little. Forshaw and Lovett's crews fought it out, the latter winning by half-a-length. The winning cic-.v consisted of W. J. Lovett, J. Cleal, H. 0. Wiles, and 11. Desborough.
