In reply to a question in the House of Commons Sir Edward Grey (the Foreign Secretary) said that the agreement between Great Britain, Italy, and France in connection wifh Abyssinia was not dependent on King Menelik's consent. It had been merely communicated to him for the purpose of showing him that his interests were not adversely affected.
