WHITE LABOUR ON THE HAND.

Heuter reports thai mine-owners on the Rand explain that there were 1376 fewer whites employed in the non-producing mines from April 1 to October compared with an increase of 403 in the producing mines. The Times says statistics for September show that despite the stoppage of development work owing to labour questions hanging in the balance. 4000 more whites were directly employed on the Rand than at any time since Chinamen arrived in June, 1901.
