ENTERTAINMENTS.
OPERA HOUSE. • FULLER'S Vaudeville Company again entertained a large audience last night. The programme was well received. Little Jackson coining in for quite an ovation. The Bicknells and Croydon and Barton were highly successful in their respective sketches. To-night there will be_.a complete change of programme, when Mr. Les Warton, the celebrated coon and character vocalist, will reappear. Fred Foley, the clever magician, musician, and shadowgraphist, appears for the last time. In conjunction with Mr. John Fuller, Miss Ceiia Mavis will sing the " Miserere", duet from "II Trovatore." GARRISON BAND CONCERT. With a view to assisting the fund being raised for the purpose of sending the Auckland Garrison Band to Christehurch to compete in the band contest, a concert and dance was held in the Hibernian Hall last evening. Notwithstanding the unfavourable weather, the attendance was good, and an enjoyable evening spent. The various musical items were well received, encores being demanded in some cases. The following was the programme:—Selection, Garrison Band (conductor Mr. E. G. Williams); coon song. Mr. J. Lewis; ballad. "Across tnc Bridge of Gold," Mr. It. Hill; duet, "Yankee Doodle.' Misses E. and L. McDonald; comic song, Mr. 11. Makanini; clog dance, Mr. •,. O'Loughlin; serio-comic, " Augelme, Miss i. McDonald: song, "Bid Me to Love, Mi. lMcGnrk; comic specialty, " Sites the Boss, I'm the Slavey," Mr. Will Skerrett; selection. Garrison Band; ventrilocpiial entertainment. Mr. J. Collier; Highland I litis (111 costume), Miss E. Nelson; song. Mr. i. Leslie: comic song. "Next Door to Me, Mr. Dick Healv: coon song. .My Hottentot, Miss B. McDonald; comic sony: and cake walk, Mr. A. Makanini. At the .conclusion of the concert- dancing was indulged in. ami a pleasant time spent. Messrs. I ester and camp were efficient M.C.'s. The arrangements were well carried out by the committee and Mr. J. R. Williamson, secretary. WEST'S PICTURES AND THE BRESCIANS. The popularity that the combination known as West's Pictures and the Bres.cians have attained i- well exemplified by the large audiences that nightly gather at His Majesty's Theatre to view the numerous and varied pictures ,and listen to the concert, programme submitted by tin? company. Last night's entertainment was thoroughly enjoyed by the audience. The pictures will be shown and the company will appear again this evening, a matinee taking place this afternoon. CONCERT AT AVONDALE. The Av.'jndale Musical Society, in conjunction with the Avondale Orchestral Society, held their third concert of the season in the Avondale Hall on Thursday evening. There was a good audience, and an interesting programme was presented. The orchestra opened the programme with the waltz. •' Sizihetta." Mrs. Hunt, in her rendering of the song. "My Kingdom.'' met with much approval, also Mr. Crocoinbe. in the song. " The Scoiu." The society then sang the part song, " Come Where the Flowirn are Flinging," and met with decided approval. Miss Binstead, Miss E. Binstead, Mr. Hartley, and Mr. Morey showed ability in. their rendering of the instrumental quartette, " Cavalleria Rusticana." and were encored. Miss Pritrtutrd was exceptionally good in the sons. " Nobody Else," and was warmly recalled- The society then gave the part song. "Excelsior." Mr. Arthur Dobbs sang, in good voice, " Romanza Margarita," and in response to an encore, " Do You Remember?'' The second part was opened with the orchestra/with the waltz " Undue Maria," which was followed by the items Son?, selected. Mr- Moylan; part song, "Blow, Plow, Thou Winter Wind." Society.: duet, " Oh, That We Two were Maying." Mesdarnes Kissel and Hunt; song, "Gallants of England," Mr. I'ritchard, and. on an encore being demanded, gave an exceptionally good rendering of the song. "The Skipper." Mrs. Hunt sang "Sincerity." The last item was a gavotte, " Stephanie," by the orchestra. Both societies, which are under the conductorship of Mr. J. R. Simpson, show a decided improvement.
The booking for Madame Dolores' concerts is splendid, and a big reception is assured to the great artist on Thursday evening next. Madame Dolores arrives by the s.s. Victoria to-morrow. The management announce that special trams will run during the season, and that 4? tickets will be available at the box office, Wiidman and Arey's, on Monday next.
