PROGRESS OF THE MOVEMENT.
A meeting of the general council of the National League of New Zealand was held last night In the league's rooms, Swansonstreet. in conference with suburban residents, who have undertaken organisation of suburban branches of the league. The formation of provisional committees in several suburbs was arranged, and it was decided to hold branch meetings during November, the suburban committees to arrange time and place. The matter of the registration of the league was discussed, and eventually left in the hands of Mr. W. Coleman. Mr. W. B. Leyland, president of the league, and Mr. John Fawcus waited on the Auckland branch of the Australian Institute of Marine Engineers yesterday, and laid before them the programme of the league. The meeting was a most enthusiastic one, the whole of the marine engineers present becoming members of the league, and pledging themselves to work in its interests, while the officials undertook to communicate the spirit of the meeting to absent members, and to circulate among them the leagues literature. Archdeacon Calder and the hon. secretary waited on the Auckland Saddlers' Union last night on behalf of the league, and laid the programme and policy of the league before the members present. They got a hearty reception, and were cordially thanked for their presence and explanations..
