OHINEMURI COUNTY COUNCIL
[BY TELEGRAPH OWN COKB^SPOXDEHT.] Paehoa, Thursday. The monthly meeting of the- Ohinemuri County Council was held this afternoon. Tenders were accepted as follows:--Erec-tion of bridge over the Ohinenmri River at the willows near Waihi, W. G. Kennedy, £38 18s; making dam and extending the Mackaytown water supply pipes for a length of about 60 chains, White and Law, £473 15s; forming and culverting the esplanade, Paeroa, E. Adalpa, £56; forming and culverting portions of Farrclly's Road, Waikino, W. C. Kennedy. £18 17s; footbridge and footpath at Mackaytown, W. O. Kennedy, £21 9s; putting in about five chains of pipe drain at Karangahake, White and Law, £15. The Council decided to lay off a wad at Waikino from Seddon's Road to Kollman's place. The application of the tiro brigade for the water mains to be extended along Willough-by-street in Paeroa; to Mackay-sfreet was granted. It was decided to replace two bridges on the main Paeroa-Waihi Road, near Mackaytown, with concrete bridges. The work is to be Jot by lender. The application of Alley Bros, for permission to erect a bouomill at Hikutaia was granted, subject to the approval of the district health officer. A resolution was passed fixing the general rate for the ensuing year at j;d in the £. It was decided to make the road to the new school site at Waikino. The application of the Karangahake Eire Brigade for the extension of the Karangahake water main to a point opposite the Wesleyan Church was referred to the engineer. It was decided to supply a culvert to be put in opposite the school at Mangaiti. Fisher Bros, were granted permission to put a. tramline over the Puke-Netherton Road a little below the Puke Perry. The offer of Bagnall Bros, to supply metal for tho Nctherton-Turua Road at 5s 6d per yard was accepted. ~ 4,£ rant of £1 ° was made to the Paeroa Public Library. Word was received from the Railway Department declining to accede to the Council s request for automatic alarms to be placed at the railway tunnel at Karangahake. The Council decided to vote £5 for prizes for small birds' eggs provided the payment would be legal. The report of the Finance Committee showed the overdraft to be £6628 16s; receipts last mouth, £1301 3s Id, and accounts amounting to £1083 14s 5d were passed for payment.
