Deceased was arrested by Constable Tonkin about half-past seven o'clock •lust evening, on a charge of drunkenness. Constable Cox visited him regularly until a quarter-past three in the morning, when he appeared rational, and was able to converse freely. Tho cell was next visited at five o'clock, and Delaney was found to be' dead. Deceased was a prohibited mm, and a labourer by occupation. .An inquest was held during the afternoon on the body, and the autopsy showed that death was due to syncope, the heart being diseased. A verdict in accordance with the medical evidence was returned.
