LIFEBELTS ON LAUNCHES.
Sir,— perusing tlio evidence given Jit tho inquest on the unfortunate victims ot tho oil launch accident.at., Blenheim 1 was struck with the fact that no lifebelt pro- ' vision was made "on the- craft. may interest your readers to know that the (Jovornnient oil launches which carry excursionists across Lakes Tarawera. and Rotomaliana are also without lifebelts. They were so, at any rate, a few months back. Tli<j unfortunate accident at Blenheim should, I think, induce the Marino Department to - insist upon launches engaged ii» the tourist traffic being - equipped with life-saving apparatus. Arthur H. Vile. '
